March is Women’s History Month!

Susan B. Anthony is the 19th century women’s movement’s most powerful organizer. She fought for women’s right to vote. She was also very involved in the fight against slavery and the temperance campaign to limit the use of alcohol. #womenshistorymonth


We have started our annual Reach out and Read book collection.  This is an annual school-wide effort to collect books for Nationwide Children’s Hospital.  Please help by  donating new or used children’s books for up to age 12 to your homeroom class. Students AND teachers can both donate! We will collect books during the weeks of March 5-March 23.

* The homeroom with the most donations will be provided breakfast on the day of that teacher’s choice


* A running score will be given each Monday  and Friday through The Growl

Ohio Dominican College is making their Spring visit to Westland High School on Thursday, March 8 during 2nd period,  All current juniors and seniors can sign up for this college visit on Naviance.

Ohio Business Week 2018 will be held July 22-28 on the campus of Ohio University in Athens. High school students participate in a series of fun & exciting workshops with business professionals and develop skills needed for success. Visit to download an application.

The Franklin County Youth Council is seeking high school students between the ages of 14 – 18 to become actively involved in the council for 2018-19. Their purpose if to encourage youth involvement in the community, build leadership skills and voice policy ideas & concerns of community youth. Applications will be accepted thru Monday, March 19. Attention  all girls interested in playing soccer. We will have conditioning in the rec from 3.30 to 4.30, Tuesday March 6th and Thursday, March 8th. We will condition for about 45 minutes before playing a short scrimmage with those that complete the full workout. Find Coach Schwarten or Coach Harris.



Attention all boys interested in playing soccer:  on Wednesday, March 7, we will start conditioning and playing in the Rec Center after school from 3:30 – 4:30 on Wednesdays and Fridays.  If you have any questions, please see Mr. Dato in room 302 or Mr. Neal in room 604.
