March is Women’s History Month!

As an astronaut and researcher of advanced optical information systems, Ellen Ochoa flew her first shuttle mission in 1993 as a Mission Specialist with the Discovery crew, conducting atmospheric and solar studies in order to better understand the effect of solar activity on the Earth’s climate and environment. The first Hispanic woman to be named an astronaut, she has logged over 500 hours in space. #womenshistorymonth

 

Today is National Single Parent Day. This day was created to honor and recognize the hard work, devotion and sacrifices of single parenting.

Ohio Business Week 2018 will be held July 22-28 on the campus of Ohio University in Athens. High school students participate in a series of fun & exciting workshops with business professionals and develop skills needed for success. All students should be checking their SWCSD email on a regular basis.  This is the easiest way for your teachers and counselors to contact you.

Counselors have sent seniors emails recently about local scholarships that are due soon.  Seniors, there is FREE money out there….Please apply to these scholarships!

Also, Mrs. Hibbitt has sent emails about College Credit Plus for next year!  Do not miss out on this opportunity to take college courses for FREE while you are in high school!

 

 

Tickets foir the in-school performance of Bring It On are now on sale at the activity window! Please purchase tickets during your lunch period. Tickets will be $5.00 and only available to students of good standing. The in-school performance is TOMORROW! The in-school performance is during 1st and 2nd periods.

 

Sports

 

On Thursday March 22 the Westland High School Cheerleading Team is having a spirit night at Canes on Broad Street from 5-9 PM! Come each some chicken and 20% of all sales will be donated to the team! You must have the flyer or show it on your phone for the team to receive credit. Snap a picture or grab one in the student office! Go Cougars!

 

 

Attention  all girls interested in playing soccer. We will have conditioning in the rec from 3.30 to 4.30 Thursday, March 22nd. We will condition for about 45 minutes before playing a short scrimmage with those that complete the full workout. Find Coach Schwarten or Coach Harris.
