SPORTS

The Westland Swim Team had a record setting winter break, competing at two different events. New team records were set by Rachel Binion in the 100 Butterfly and 100 Freestyle, and by Tim Wotring in the 100 and 200 Freestyle and the 100 Breaststroke. Other swimmers who set new personal records were Makaili Long, Caramella Louden, and Laura Ornelas. The team will be back in action on Saturday.

Candy canes are being sold at all lunches. 1 for $ .50 or 3 for $1.00. They’ll be sold through December 5th to December 18th. They’ll be delivered to your friends on December 18th. Happy holidays!

Tonight’s tech auditions for Mamma Mia will be held in the auditorium. Remember, you must have signed up for these to attend.

There is a Cultural Diversity Club meeting Friday after school in room 504.

The final STEM challenge of 2018 will take place in the library on Monday and Tuesday. Build a sleigh and ramp that travels the furthest distance while keeping your presents in the sleigh.

Pencil Dust has judged the poems that were submitted for our Poetry Competition, and we have chosen a winner. Congratulations to Rebecca Fregoso for winning the competition with her poem “Memories”! Rounding out the top 5 were poems by Haleigh Allen, Ana Gonzalez-Villa, Avery Bartholow, and Theo Cruz. Thank you all so much for your submissions. They were fantastic.

The boys basketball team lost a close game to Hamilton Township last night 57-66. See them back in action at home against Dublin Coffman on Friday night!  The lady Cougars are away against Coffman the same night.

Wrestling has a match at Westerville Central tomorrow starting at 6 PM and Boys Basketball travels to Hamilton Township.

  • Congratulations to the women of Westland swimming, who beat the ladies of Central Crossing at their first swim meet last night. A special congratulations goes to the following winners of their events: Rachel Binion in the 200 free, Porter Madden in the 100 breaststroke, and the 200 medley relay team of Rachel Binion, Makaili Long, Peyton Madden, and Porter Madden. The swim team will be back in action next Friday.
  • Attention all track athletes!  Track is helping to uninstall seatbacks at OSU on Saturday, December 8th.  Coach Eckard will pay you and anybody who works for you (like a parent) $50.00 towards your pay to play if you help us out.  The sign up sheet to work is hanging up outside of room 801.  Coach Eckard will allow the first 10 athletes (and or parents) who sign up to help.
